The National Institute of Atomic Warfare (NIAW) is dedicated to safeguarding critical data in the face of extreme threats, including nuclear warfare. Our mission requires a team of highly skilled, dedicated professionals who are committed to excellence, security, and resilience. Joining the NIAW offers a unique opportunity to contribute to national and global security through cutting-edge technology and unwavering dedication. However, due to the sensitive nature of our work, all employees must meet stringent clearance and qualification requirements.

Why Join NIAW?

At NIAW, you will work in a state-of-the-art environment, protecting vital data assets in our fortified cold storage datacenters. Your contributions will ensure the preservation of critical information under the most extreme conditions, supporting national security and continuity of operations. We seek individuals with expertise in data storage, cybersecurity, engineering, and facility operations who are ready to uphold our mission with integrity and precision.

Employee Clearance and Requirements

To maintain the highest standards of security and operational excellence, all NIAW employees must obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph. Below are the detailed requirements for employment:

Top Secret/SCI Clearance with Polygraph

Candidates must successfully obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance, the highest level of security clearance issued by the U.S. government.
A counterintelligence polygraph examination is mandatory to verify trustworthiness and ensure no vulnerabilities to foreign influence or espionage.
Candidates must have a clean background with no history of criminal activity, foreign affiliations, or behaviors that could compromise security.
Ongoing monitoring and periodic reinvestigations are required to maintain clearance status.

U.S. Citizenship

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, as mandated by federal regulations for handling classified information and working in secure facilities.

Background Investigation

A comprehensive background check will be conducted, including financial history, personal conduct, foreign travel, and associations.
Candidates must provide detailed documentation covering at least the past 10 years of residence, employment, and education.
Interviews with references, family members, and associates may be conducted to verify character and loyalty.

Professional Qualifications

Relevant expertise in fields such as data storage technologies, cybersecurity, nuclear engineering, facility management, or related disciplines is required.
A bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field (e.g., computer science, engineering, information technology) is preferred, though equivalent experience may be considered.
Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable for technical roles.

Physical and Mental Fitness

Candidates must pass a medical evaluation to ensure they can operate in high-stress, secure environments, including underground facilities.
Psychological assessments are required to confirm mental resilience and suitability for handling classified responsibilities.

Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)

All employees must sign NDAs to protect classified and proprietary information.
Breaches of confidentiality are subject to severe legal consequences, including prosecution under federal law.

Continuous Training and Compliance

Employees must participate in regular security training and drills to maintain awareness of protocols and threats.
Adherence to NIAW's strict operational and security policies is mandatory at all times.
